Summer in Cahir

It’s official, Summer in Cahir has arrived with some fantastic weather. The outdoor seating at the front of the Lazy Bean Café has been the prime location in town over the past week as the glorious morning sunshine beamed down on us. It has simply been a pleasure for those who have been able to sit for a while and watch the world go by.

Here you can see a photo of Denise delivering some wonderful food to our patrons dining out in the lovely summer sunshine as well as a regular taking some alternative transport past the Café.

Walking in Cahir

Walking in Cahir

One of the most common activities carried out by visitors to South Tipperary is walking – with immediate access to the Galtee Mountains, Knockmealdown Mountains and Comeragh Mountains, this is hardly surprising. Walking in Cahir is a very satisfying activity and will give you a great appetite, something with which we can help you.

Walking in Cahir – The Galtee Mountains

If you want to walk the Galtee Mountains then you should contact the Galtee Walking Club who organise regular events in and around the Galtee Mountains which stretch southwards from Cahir.

Walking in Cahir – The Knockmealdown Mountains

If you take a quick 15 minute drive to Clogheen you have full access to the Knockmealdown Mountains which stretch from Newcastle to Ballyporeen on the Tipperary side and also have significant coverage in Waterford from Lismore across the county.

The St. Declan’s Way Pilgrimage Walk from Cashel to Ardmore (taking place in 2013 from July 24th to 28th – see here) takes in Cashel, Cahir, Ardfinnan, Goatenbridge, Lismore, Cappoquin, Aglish and Ardmore. If you want to explore the area of South Tipperary and West Waterford then this is certainly a great way to do it.

Walking in Cahir – The Comeragh Mountains

If you take a 15 minute drive out the Clonmel road you’ll arrive at the Comeraghs, another beautiful mountain range right on our doorstep – we truly are blessed. If you contact the guys at Peaks Mountaineering in Clonmel they’ll be able to guide you in the direction of the best walks around. They also organise annual walks such as the Knockmealdown Crossing. If you continue into the Comeraghs proper you’ll come across the Nire Valley Walking club which organises the annual Comeragh Bogtrot.

Restaurants with Gluten Free Meals

For those with gluten intolerance, it can be difficult to find restaurants that cater to your specific needs. Well fear not, if you’re looking for restaurants with gluten free meals, you’ve found one. Here at the Lazy Bean Café in Cahir we’ve always supplied a range of gluten free options to our customers.

Restaurants with Gluten Free Meals – Plenty of Choice

In many cases, even when you can find restaurants with gluten free meals, you don’t get much choice – apart from take it or leave it. This is not the case at the Lazy Bean Café, here you can find a large range of food to choose from. This includes a range of breads, soups, drinks, desserts, sauces, jams and dressings. All you have to do is to inform a member of staff that you would like to see the Gluten Free options and they’ll be very happy to assist.

Restaurants with Gluten Free Meals – Right on the M8

Travelling the M8 from Dublin to Cork or Cork to Dublin? Then you’re passing the door of the Lazy Bean Café. We’re located at Exit 10 in the centre of historic Cahir Town. There is free parking in the square, right outside the door and we’ve also got Free WiFi. Everything you need for a relaxing coffee, meal or tasty treat.

You can see below some of the items from which you can choose.

Demo & Dine in Cahir HouseCahir House Hotel – Cooking Demo – March 22nd

If you fancy seeing a cookery demonstration, with a difference, then you could do worse than taking a trip over to Cahir House Hotel next Friday evening, March 22nd at 7.30pm.

Here you’ll find the Knockmealdown Active crew with JJ Healy, Eileen Condon and TJ Crowe taking on the ‘Demo & Dine‘ experience. This is a cookery demonstration where all attendees get to taste the food after it has been prepared.

The door prize on the night is worth the entry fee of €15 alone – it’s a tasting dinner for two at the wonderful Old Convent Gourmet Hideaway Restaurant in Clogheen. The restaurant is run by Dermot & Christine Gannon who had a lovely restaurant (Gannon’s at the Bell) over the Bell Pub in Cahir, for a number of years.
